Sensex Ends Flat After Falling 285 Points

Sharemasterindia.com: 3:22 p.m.: Bharat Petroleum top gainer among the Nifty stocks. Stock gains 3.2 per cent to Rs 866.

3:15 p.m.: Broader markets also showcase recovery. The BSE mid-cap index up 0.22 per cent and the small-cap index gains 0.11 per cent. 
3:00 p.m.:  Expert view- Daljeet Kohli, head of research at IndiaNivesh Securities told NDTV that the story of weak earnings growth will continue in FY16. He expects FY16 earnings to grow at not more than 7-8 per cent. Mr Kohli believes markets will correct further to adjust for the revised earnings estimates. He advices not to buy any stock at this moment.

2:55 p.m.: Nifty in green, up 2 points at 8,137, Sensex trades marginally lower at 26,826.

2:45 p.m.: Markets showcase smart recovery led by buying in oil & gas, capital goods and IT stocks. Sensex down 30 points at 26,806 and Nifty slips 4 points to 8,131.

Metal Stocks Lose Shine on Weak Demand; NMDC Cracks 5%

Sharemasterindia.com:  Metal stocks fell sharply on Thursday with the BSE metals index falling over 2 per cent.
 
Nalco, NMDC, SAIL and Tata Steel were the major losers from the metal space falling between 2-5 per cent each.

Analysts say weak metal prices in international markets and subdued domestic demand has taken a toll on the metal stocks.

China shares sink, euro rides high as yields spike

Sharemasterindia.com: The euro continued riding high on Thursday thanks to a spike in euro zone debt yields, while in Asian equities volatile Chinese shares slid and tempered risk sentiment.

China's CSI300 index lost 3.5 percent while the Shanghai Composite Index dropped 3.6 percent as signs that more brokerages are starting to tighten margin trading also spoiled sentiment. The country's equities have also sagged recently on concern that waves of new share offerings will sap liquidity in other stocks.

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan fell 1.2 percent.

Nestle Extends Losses as Maggi Controversy Snowballs

Sharemasterindia.com: Nestle shares extended losses on Thursday, falling as much as 6.3 per cent in opening deals. The stock dropped below the key 6,000 levels today, from a high of Rs 7,038 on May 28, 2015.

The selloff in Nestle comes amid a raging controversy around its Maggi noodles, which has become the subject of investigation by Food & Drug Administration or FDA across many states. Maggi is being scrutinized for high content of lead and mono-sodium glutamate or MSG, a taste enhancer.

Asia Stocks Rise on Greece Deal Hopes, Euro Rides High as Yields Spike

 

Tokyo(Sharemasterindia.com): The euro continued riding high on Thursday thanks to a spike in euro zone debt yields, while Asian stocks rose on hopes that Greece could be inching closer to a deal that would save it from default.

The European common currency rode the momentum gathered overnight when the European Central Bank, in line with recent data suggesting deflationary pressures were not as pronounced as feared, raised its inflation forecast for 2015.

9:00 a.m.: Rupee opens lower at 64.13/dollar against Wednesday's close of 63.89.
