Live: Sensex Volatile With Positive Bias, IT Stocks Under Pressure

 Sharemasterindia.com 3:11 p.m.: State Bank of India's 270 call option was the most active stock option on the NSE. The premium on the option jumped 22 per cent to Rs 2.15. Open interest on the contract reduced by 2.4 lakh shares to 4.5 million shares.

3:00 p.m.: The Sensex was up 70 points at 27,800 and the Nifty was up 27 points at 83,80.

2:50 p.m.: BSE mid-cap index edges lower. The index slipped 0.02 per cent; J P Associates, Sun TV, Titan, Apollo Hospitals, GMR Infra, Cadila Healthcare J P Power Ventures and Indian Bank were among the top losers.

Next Mediaworks Surges 10%, Gains 60% in a Week

 Sharemasterindia.com: Next Mediaworks shares surged as much as 10 per cent to a high of Rs 13.88 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday. Including today's gain the stock has surged 60 per cent in last one week.

Next Mediaworks, the holding company of Next Radio that operates FM channels under the brand name of "Radio One", is planning to raise Rs 115 crore through debt and equity for phase 3 of FM auction.

Rs 25 crore will be raised from ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and his wife Rekha Jhunjhunwala through allotment of preferential shares and remaining Rs 80-90 crore will be raised through debt, Next Mediaworks had said in a filing to exchanges.

Why Sun TV Shares Slumped 6% Today


Sharemasterindia.com: Sun TV shares fell as much as 6 per cent on Tuesday after Economic Times newspaper reported, citing sources, that the Prime Minister's Office has found merit in the Home Ministry's decision to deny the broadcaster security clearance for its 33 channels.

The issue of granting security clearance to Sun TV has divided the government, with the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the Home Ministry taking opposite views.

Broadcasters such as Sun TV need a security clearance every 10 years in order to continue their operations. The Home Ministry wants to deny security clearance to Sun TV on the ground that its promoter Kalanithi Maran is being investigated for criminal cases.
