Live: Sensex Falls 50 Points, Nifty Near 8,100 on Selling in Banking Stocks

Sharemasterindia.com 3:23 p.m.: Sensex falls 78 points to 26,735 and Nifty down 22 points to 8,109. Banking, realty, auto and IT stocks among the top gainers.

3:13 p.m.: Blue-chip counters such as ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, HDFC, Infosys, Reliance Industries, TCS and Axis Bank trading on a weak note.

3:05 p.m.: Markets in negative territory; Sensex falls 41 points to 26,772 and Nifty down 16 points at 8,114.

Why GVK Power & Infrastructure Is In Focus Today


Sharemasterindia.com: GVK Power & Infrastructure shares rose over 6 per cent on Friday to Rs 8.05, significantly outperforming the broader markets.

At 11:52 am, GVK Power & Infrastructure shares were trading at its day high of Rs 8.05, up 6.62 per cent, outperforming the broader Nifty and the Sensex which were up around 0.07 per cent.

GVK Power & Infrastructure on Thursday said it had acquired 100 per cent stake in GVK Airport Services, which operates the Mumbai and Bengaluru international airports.

Why Coal India Shares are up 5% Today



Sharemasterindia.com: Coal India shares jumped as much as 5 per cent to hit intraday high of Rs 407.70 after the company signed fuel supply agreements with non-power producers.

Coal India signed fuel supply agreements (FSA) totaling 60 million tonnes per annum with non-power producers. FSAs with non-power producers are signed at a premium of 30 per cent to FSAs of power companies. This move would results in higher profit realisations for Coal India going ahead.

Live: Sensex Turns Volatile in Noon Deals


Sharemasterindia.com 12:50 p.m.: Sensex turned volatile in the afternoon deals. The Sensex again jumps over 100 points to 26,922 and the Nifty trades above 8,150.

12:40 p.m.: Nestle shares staged a sharp recovery on Friday, gaining nearly 2 per cent, after earlier falling by as much as 5 per cent in morning deals. The company's global CEO held a press conference to address concerns around Maggi noodles, which has been under country-wide scrutiny for high lead content and mono-sodium glutamate or MSG, a taste enhancer.

"Maggi noodles are safe for consumption... We follow the same quality standards, safety procedures everyone in the world," said Paul Bulcke, CEO of Nestle Worldwide.

Gold near Five-Week Low before US Jobs Data

 
Singapore(Sharemasterindia.com): Gold was hovering near its lowest in five weeks on Friday, and was on track for a third straight weekly slide, as robust U.S. economic data bolstered expectations of an interest rate hike this year.

Traders were awaiting the critical U.S. nonfarm payrolls report due later in the day for more clues about the economy and how it would impact the Federal Reserve's interest rate policy.

Spot gold ticked up slightly to $1,177.80 an ounce by 0037 GMT, but wasn't too far from a five-week low of $1,172.55 hit in the previous session.

Live: Sensex, Nifty Edge Lower; ITC Falls for Fourth Day


Sharemasterindia.com 9:30 a.m.: Nifty and Sensex trade on a subdued note in the morning deals on Friday. Selling pressure was visible in IT, FMCG, consumer durables, auto, realty and banking stocks.

From the Nifty-50 basket of stocks, 21 stocks were among gainers while 29 stocks fell. ITC was the top Nifty loser, the stock fell 1.3 per cent to Rs 297.75. Tata Motors, Ambuja Cements, Cairn India, ACC, Bajaj Auto and Axis Bank were also among the laggards.

On the other hand, Coal India, Sun Pharma, Idea Cellular, GAIL India, Lupin, Bharti Airtel and BPCL were also among the gainers.
