Sensex Falls Over 200 Points, Nifty Breaches 8,050


Sharemasterindia.com: Indian equity markets extended losses in the noon trade, with the Sensex falling over 200 points. The Nifty slipped below the 8,050 mark, dragged down by losses in heavyweights like Reliance Industries, Tata Steel, Tata Motor and Hindustan Unilever.
 
Analysts say Nifty risks falling to 7,997 levels, which was seen in early May, after the benchmark index fell below 8,050 levels.

Among sectors, public sector banks saw deep losses with NSE's sub-index for PSU banks falling over 2 per cent. Bank of India, OBC, PNB, Bank of Baroda and SBI were down between 1-4 per cent.

Bhushan Steel Gains 40% in Two Days

Sharemasterindia.com: Bhushan Steel shares have gained over 40 percent in two days of trading. On Monday, Bhushan Steel shares soared nearly 19 per cent to Rs 71.80 in an otherwise weak market.

On Friday, Bhushan Steel had clarified to the stock exchanges that it had received lenders' nod for restructuring the company.

"On 15th December 2014, RBI announced a scheme for long term structuring of loans in line with cash flows. The joint lenders forum have agreed to extend the loans of BSL (Bhushan Steel Ltd)  for a tenure of 25 years under the said scheme.

Tata Motors Shares on Track for 7th Straight Loss


Sharemasterindia.com: Tata Motors shares traded over 2 per cent lower on Monday as sentiment continued to remain weak after the automaker reported weak quarterly earnings last month. The stock was among the top Nifty losers today, heading towards its seventh straight day of fall.
 
Tata Motors shares have shed as much as 14 per cent since May 26, when the company reported a 56 per cent drop in its March quarter net profit. Profitability of India's biggest automaker by revenue was hit because of slowdown in Jaguar Range Rover sales in China. Tata Motors' bottom line was also impacted by one-off losses.

IMF Official Warns of Market Disorder from Fed Rate Hike


Seoul(Sharemasterindia.com): The International Monetary Fund's deputy managing director warned on Monday that there is "considerable" risk for negative spillover from the US Federal Reserve's pending interest rate hike.

"The risk is once market sentiment shifts - possibly triggered by normalisation - yields could sharply increase and capital flows could reverse," Mitsuhiro Furusawa told an international conference in Seoul.

"This process could become disorderly, with impaired liquidity in certain markets or asset classes."

Rupee down 28 paise against dollar

Sharemasterindia.com: The rupee weakened 28 paise to trade at 64.03 against the dollar in early trade on Sunday at the Interbank Foreign Exchange on capital outflows by foreign funds. 

Furthermore, increased demand for dollar from importers and banks weighed on the local currency, forex dealers said.

Sun TV Shares Crash Over 25% to 52-Week Low


Sharemasterindia.com: Shares in Sun TV, promoted by billionaire Kalanithi Maran, crashed 28 per cent on Monday amid reports that the broadcast major may have to take off its 33 channels off air in the absence of security clearance by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to Press Trust of India, the home ministry struck down a proposal by the information and broadcasting ministry for giving security clearance to 33 television channels of Sun TV Network. The decision was taken because of pending criminal cases against Mr Maran and his brother and former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran, PTI said citing sources in the ministry.

Nikkei Opens Higher on Upbeat Growth Data


Sharemasterindia.com: Tokyo stocks opened 0.38 per cent higher Monday, after upbeat Japanese growth data as well as a positive US jobs report that pushed the yen down.
 
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 76.95 points to 20,537.85 at the start.

The higher opening came after fresh data showed Japan's economy grew 1.0 per cent in the first quarter, up from an initial estimate of 0.6 per cent expansion.
