Sensex Gains 200 Points, Nifty Ends Above 8200; RIL Jumps 2%

 Sharemasterindia.com 3:40 p.m.: Sensex ends 200 points higher at 27,316 on Friday, its sixth gain in a row. Nifty settles 50 points higher at 8,224.

RIL stands out among the gainers with the market heavyweight rising nearly 2 per cent, also its sixth gain in a row.

Banking and oil & gas stocks led the gainer today with ONGC and Bank of Baroda rising over 2 per cent.  M&M was the biggest Nifty gainer, up 4 per cent.  37 stocks among the 50-share Nifty ends with gains while 13 with losses.


The gains were muted in broader markets with BSE midcap index rising 0.60 per cent and BSE smallcap index 0.30 per cent.

3:30 p.m.: Provisional close: Nifty up 58 points at 8,233; Sensex gains 234 points to 27,350

3:20 p.m.: Sensex off day's high, up nearly 200 points.

3:15 p.m.: European stock markets gained in early trade.Calm ruled Europe's stock, currency and markets on Friday as Greece inched closer to a default later this month.

3:10 p.m.: For sustainable gains, Nifty needs to break out above 8,300, says market analyst Sarvendra Srivastava. On the downside, 7,940 remains strong support level, he added.

3:02 p.m.: Essar Oil extends losses, down nearly 7.5 per cent.
