Live: Sensex Cracks Over 350 Points, Nifty Below 8,350; Metal Stocks Bleed

Sharemasterindia.com 3:22 p.m.: Bank Nifty was down nearly 3 per cent; Canara Bank, State Bank of India, Bank of India, Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank and ICICI Bank were among the prominent losers, down 3.4-5.9 per cent each.

3:16 p.m.: Cadila Healthcare (Cadila) shares jumped as much as 6 per cent to Rs 2033.5 on Wednesday after the company announced a stock split today.

3:14 p.m.: The Sensex fell 355 points to 27,510 and Nifty plunged 115 points to 8,347. Metal stocks were among the worst hit in trades so far. The BSE metal index was down 4.6 per cent.

2:25 p.m.: IT stocks continue to witness buying interest; The BSE IT index was up 2.65 per cent.

2:19 p.m.: The Sensex extends losses, falls 287 points to 27,578 and Nifty down 93 points at 8,369.

2:06 p.m.: IDBI Bank Q1 net profit at Rs 135 crore compared to Rs 106 crore during the same quarter last year. Gross non-performing assets at 6.64 per cent against 5.88 per cent during the previous quarter. Stock falls 2.85 per cent to Rs 63.15.

1:56 p.m.: Claris Lifesciences surges over 6 per cent to Rs 234 after the company informed that it received prior approval supplement for Furosemide Injection in US.

1:46 p.m.: Ashok Leyland Q1 net profit at Rs 159 crore against estimate to Rs 120 crore. Stock up 0.35 per cent at Rs 86.90.

1:38 p.m.: BSE small-cap index fell 1.2 per cent; Kwality, Lycos Internet, Rutron International, Helios & Matheson Information Technology and Anatraj Industries were among the losers from this space.

1:22 p.m.: Nifty 8,400 put option was the most active options contract on the National Stock Exchange. The premium on the contract advanced 55 per cent to Rs 104 and open interest advanced 3.8 million shares.
